If you have to stop halfway

Sits outside
The nine phases. It applies to all of them
Best break
After minute 35, before funding
Worst break
Inside minute 45, after sending

Interruption is the most common thing that happens to a first session and almost nothing written about this subject mentions it. Where you stop matters far more than the fact of stopping.

Why this page exists

Because a ninety minute run is longer than most people have in one sitting, and because the run is longer than anybody says. A session that gets interrupted is the normal case, not the failure case.

What determines whether that is fine or a problem is entirely the phase you were in. Some boundaries cost nothing at all. One of them leaves money in motion and a page you cannot get back.

The break points, ranked

Where you stopWhat it costs
Anywhere before minute 15Free. Nothing exists. Close everything and there is no trace of a session having happened.
After arrival, before the accountFree. You have a browser and some addresses, which is a complete piece of work in itself.
After minute 35, before fundingThe best real break point. An account exists and it is recoverable, and nothing is at stake.
Inside funding, after sendingThe worst. Money is moving, nothing is showing, and the account may not be recoverable if minute 35 was skipped.
After funding, before an orderFine. A balance sits there. Not ideal, since it is parked somewhere you do not control.
Inside minute 75, at the encryption stepFine and common. Nothing is committed. This is the single most frequent place people stop.
After the orderNot a break at all. The clocks from minute 90 are running and one of them ends by itself.

The one rule

Do not begin funding unless you are prepared for the session to run another hour. That single rule removes the only genuinely bad break point in the whole run.

If the evening is short, stop after the recovery material instead. An account that exists and can be got back into is a complete, useful outcome for one sitting, and everything after it is easier next time.

Stopping cleanly, whichever phase you are in

  1. Write down where you got to. One line. Which phase, what exists, what does not.
  2. Make sure the credentials are recorded, whatever else is true. If the account exists and the material is not written down, do that before you close anything, even if it is late.
  3. Note which address you used, so that coming back does not start with another search.
  4. Close the browser rather than leaving it open. An open session on a machine you share is the thing minute 0 was about.
  5. If a transfer is in flight, note the amount, the time and the identifier. Tomorrow you will want to look it up rather than guess.
What a planned stop gives you
  • You resume at a boundary rather than trying to reconstruct where you were.
  • The decisions made tired get made fresh instead.
  • It removes the pressure that produces the mistakes at minute 75.
What an unplanned one costs
  • A stop in the wrong place leaves money in motion and a worry attached to it.
  • Momentum is genuinely useful and stopping loses it.
  • People who stop mid funding frequently do not come back at all.
Where people stall

The stall is pressing on because stopping feels like failing. Somebody with twenty minutes left starts funding anyway, and ends the evening with a transfer in flight and nothing showing.

The second is stopping without recording anything. Three days later, the address used is forgotten, the amount sent is a guess, and getting back to where they were takes longer than the original phase did.

The third is not coming back. This is the real cost and it is much more common after a bad stop than after a planned one. A session abandoned mid funding leaves a small unpleasant feeling attached to the whole thing, and the balance sits there untouched for months.

How long this really takes
What people expectThe session runs to the end in one sitting
What it usually costsMost first sessions take two sittings, and that is normal

Planning for two sittings from the start makes both of them better. The natural split is everything up to the recovery material, then funding onward on another day.

Coming back

  1. Read your one line note before opening anything.
  2. Use the address you kept rather than searching again. This is the moment that the collecting page was written for.
  3. Log in from your written material rather than a saved session. It doubles as the recovery test.
  4. Pick up at the phase boundary rather than rereading everything.
In one line

Stopping is normal. Stop after the recovery material and before funding, and a two evening first session costs nothing at all.
